" I <3 Iijoki is a splashy rowboat trip and a performance. I <3 Iijoki is also an expression of love for the Ii-river region and it’s inhabitants from the municipalities’ mayors to the salmon. How did you experience love by the river?"
I <3 Iijoki-project will traverse the river from Taivalkoski to the Bay of Bothnia in July 2017. The journey is done on a traditional wooden ”church boat”, which is a large 40-feet long rowboat. The church boat of love will dock at Taivalkoski, Pudasjärvi, Yli-Ii, Ii and the island of Karhu on the Bay of Bothnia near Ii. There will be an art-performance at each of the waypoint stops. The art-performance of love and the river will offer the audience an interdisciplinary art experience for all the senses.
The members of the group: Anni Arfman (fine art), Anssi Laiho (sound art), Anni Rissanen (contemporary dance) and Hanna-Kaisa Tiainen (theatre) will express their own vision of love by the Ii-river. Each performance will also feature a local artist that will take part in creating the performance of the evening.
I <3 Iijoki production is collecting stories of love from the people of the region. These stories are used as a background material for the performance.
The production is also looking for volunteers to take part in the performance as rowing crewmen on the ”church boat”.
”Looking for mature, but playful salmon to share everyday evenings and also the more celebratory times with. Good food gathering skills is a plus. A sexually mature person, who is not afraid to look in to the eyes, is waiting for you eagerly. Wet kisses, Lohimorsian84.”
